Preserve the Original Default (.ftl) File

Prerequisites:

This task requires programming skills, custom reports knowledge, and experience with FreeMarker (.ftl) template files. Users must have Task Manager Setup and Activity permission granted in the Authority Level section of the System area to access the Custom Templates feature.

There are many ways to preserve the original default (.ftl) file, the steps below describe one way to preserve the file.

  1. Go to System > Custom Templates.
  2. Choose one of the original default (.ftl) files from the Custom Template list to view the settings:
    • flsaCsvExport.ftl

    • flsaXmlExport.ftl

    • payrollCsvExport.ftl

    • payrollXmlExport.ftlYou

    • ROS-all.ftl

    • ROS04-v2.ftl

    • ROS05-v2.ftl

    • ROS08-v2.ftl

  3. Select Last Saved Template on the top-right to download the (.ftl) file.
  4. Retrieve and open your downloaded (.ftl) file to view the contents in the editor of your choice.
  5. Use Save As... to rename the (.ftl) file and create a new file.
  6. Edit your new (.ftl) and then Save.
  7. Return to the Custom Templates area.
  8. Click Add.
  9. Populate the required fields.
  10. In the Upload Custom Template pane, options are...
    • Drag your (.ftl) file.
    • Select the down arrow to browse for and select your (.ftl) file.
  11. Select Save.
Result:  The custom template will appear in the Transform File Using Template (.ftl) drop-down menu of the Payroll Export or the Roster Export task type in the Task Manager.
