Workforce Dimensions Import Employee Badges

Prerequisites:
  • TSG InTouch Timeclock Device License
  • Devices must be identified in this application to enable authentication using employee badge numbers.
  • The ability to integrate with InTouch Devices requires the Device ID, Description and Password in this application: Setup > System > Device Manager
  • Dimensions integration license
  • Dimensions People IPacks configured and running
  • User rights granted to the Task Manager and the Import Manager in Setup > System
  • Target personnel must be mapped in both Dimensions and this application.
  • Target personnel must have an Effective Dated Badge ID association in Dimensions.

The Workforce Dimensions Import Employee Badges task imports employee badge numbers from Dimensions into this application. This task maps and assigns effective dated badge IDs from Dimensions to people in this application. Person effective dated badges are managed in Dimensions the information is represented in this application with the same Badge Number, and Effective Date Timestamps.

Dimensions returns the Badge ID Start Time and End Time in the Person’s timezone. When Dimensions sends the time to this application, the time is converted to UTC as follows:

  • When Institution Focus is disabled, the API returns the time in System Default Time Zone, so UTC time conversion will be based on System Default Time Zone.
  • When Institution Focus is enabled... if the person has a Home Institution defined, then UTC time conversion will be based on the person's Home Institution Time Zone. If the person has no Home Institution defined, then UTC time conversion will be based on System Default Time Zone.
  1. Go to: System > Task Manager
  2. Click Add
  3. In Name, label your job. Use the description area to enter additional information if needed.
  4. Leave remaining and default settings as is.
  5. Click the Task tab to create a task.
  6. In Name, label your task. Leave as is recommended to start.
  7. In Task Type, select WorkforceDimensions Import Employee Badges.
  8. Click Save.
  9. Optional - click the Schedules tab to create a schedule. See Task Manager Schedule Example topic for additional information.
  • An employee with a badge number that has been properly authenticated will have access to their Smart Views utilizing an InTouch clock.
